Dan Hastings

Professor, MIT

Prof. Daniel Hastings is the Department Head of the MIT Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Professor Hastings was US Air Force Chief Scientist From 1997-1999 and chair of the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board from 2002-2005.  Professor Hastings is a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) and the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) and a member of the US National Academy of Engineering.  He served on the NASA Advisory Council, the Defense Science Board, the National Science Board and several ad-hoc committees on space technology as well as on Science and Technology management and processes.  ​
