Samantha Glassner
CEO, ROBOSAM LLC. and Graduate Student
Samantha Glassner is currently a Mechanical Engineering PhD student at Virginia Tech specializing in robotic in-space assembly and servicing research. Samantha received BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering, with a concentration in Mechatronics, from Northeastern University in May 2020. Samantha has interned at NASA Langley Research Center and the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory developing the mechanical hardware, electrical systems, and software for robots used for various in-space assembly demonstrations such as: precision jigging robots for solar array assembly, heterogeneous teams of robots for truss construction, lunar crane development, modular soft robots, stacked Stewart platform manipulators, reconfigurable satellites with serviceable scientific payloads, and robotic starshade assembly. Samantha has also participated in NASA conceptual studies including the NASA in-Space Assembled Telescope (iSAT) Study for the National Academies’ 2020 Astronomy & Astrophysics Decadal Survey. Samantha also consults on SMART endeavors through her ROBotic On-orbit Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing LLC (ROBOSAM LLC). .
