Dr. Harley Thronson retired from NASA GSFC in late 2019, where he had been Senior Scientist for Advanced Astrophysics Mission Design, where he led initial designs for large post-James Webb and -Roman Space Telescopes and co-led the In-Space Assembled Telescope (ISAT) study. Earlier, while at NASA HQ in the Senior Executive Service, he was Program Scientist for the Hubble Space Telescope, Spitzer Space Telescope, the Far-Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer, the Astrobiology Program, as well as NASA HQ Science Mission Directorate Chief Technologist. He has authored more than 120 refereed or invited papers and edited 11 books.
